JPay for instance, allows friends and family members to transfer money directly to an inmate's trust account. It also allows videos, photos, emails, and electronic cards. It also lets users create personalized postcards using their own photos. It's a safer, more secure alternative to postal mail.
Another popular inmate text app is GettingOut which provides "simple and reliable communication" between inmates and their loved family members. The app, which is available in certain correctional facilities, lets inmates upload photos and text their friends and families via their tablets. It costs inmates $0.25 for a message and loved ones pay for the information that they use to view their messages (but not for explicit photos).
